Thoughts

New year? Yes, please!

Well, March was a long decade.

This year has been the most difficult any of us have likely seen in our lifetimes, but if I’ve learned anything at all in 2020, it’s that I don’t want to be neutral. I’ve never really been the neutral type anyway, being outspoken is more my jam. I think it’s always better to speak the truth, even if your voice shakes. Plus, I’m totally over the neutral fashion trend and I’m here to add some sass to outfits again.

But for real, there’s a shift happening. I feel it in myself, in the people I know and in everyone I follow on social media (and most of those people aren’t “activists”.) Regular people are starting to give a sh*t about things other than what is in their immediate bubble; they seem to have a growing interest in what’s going on around them. I guess once you learn the true reality of things, you can’t exactly go backwards to bathe in ignorance.

As the new year approaches, and we (hopefully omg) have a vaccine coming, I’ve been thinking a lot about returning back to “normal” — and specifically, what part of “normal” I’d like to go back to. The answer to this involves being a better person who’s more involved in issues greater than themselves and encouraging family/friends to do the same. But there’s a lot to focus on right now (environmental issues, women’s rights issues, #blacklivesmatter, animal cruelty, factory farming etc.) which feels overwhelming tbh.

I’d like to create a community here with my new e-gfs (hey, that’s you!) where we can all encourage each other to take little steps to do better, hold each other accountable, and strut our stuff in the best outfits possible (even if our runway has to be a hallway rn, because, corona).

Who’s with me?!

Lisa is from Toronto, Canada and completed her Honours BA in Journalism at Ryerson University. She's never really been a "neutral" kinda gal. Not with fashion and certainly not with big ticket world issues, either. Her mission is to challenge herself (and those around her) to keep learning and growing (while being dressed to kill, obviously.)
